Her teachers include Karen Evans Moratz (Principal Flute of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra; Butler University) and Loretta Contino (Butler University). Heidi has participated in numerous master classes, including classes presented by Paul Edmund-Davies (Principal Flute of English National Opera, London Symphony Orchestra), Elizabeth Buck (Arizona State University), Walfrid Kujala (Northwestern University, Chicago Symphony Orchestra), and Matthias Ziegler (Zurich Chamber Orchestra). Heidi has also participated in various competitions, most notably the Claude Monteux Young Artist Competition where she placed in the semi-final round.
While residing in Indianapolis, Heidi taught weekly students ranging from eleven to seventy years of age, with many of her students participating in ISSMA Solo and Ensemble District and State competitions, and Indianapolis area wind ensembles. In addition to teaching private flute students, she also performed numerous solo flute recitals, performed with the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra. Having been a dancer since a young age, Heidi was also cast as a dancer and performer with the
Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra during their annual Yuletide Celebration. Since relocating to Portland in October 2012, Heidi teaches weekly students ranging in age from twelve through adult and performs at restaurants, cafes, and other Portland venues.
When not performing or teaching, Heidi enjoys attending concerts, dance performances, ballet, yoga, and reading.
