Name: Laurel
Music Instrument(s) Taught: Bass, Cello, Guitar, Piano, Viola, Violin
Location: North Portland

Originally from the Chicago area, Laurel grew up taking lessons in both piano and viola, playing in orchestras and jazz ensembles and taking part in as many musical projects as possible. When she wanted to switch to cello in her school orchestra, her teacher asked her to try out the double bass instead and she never looked back!  She earned her B.M. degrees in Classical Performance and Music Education and the double bass from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Previously Laurel worked as an AmeriCorps-Ethos MusicRural Music Facilitator in Madras, Oregon for two years. During that time, she taught over 700 students, started an after school music lesson program, coordinated large community music events and worked with residents to support local sustainable music and music education.

Laurel is now in the Portland area and is excited to be a part of such a vibrant musical community! She teaches double bass, electric bass, and beginning to intermediate violin, viola, cello, piano, and guitar.

Laurel is currently not accepting new students.
