Music Instrument(s) Taught: Voice
Location: SE Portland (82nd and Powell)
Tanya grew up singing – all the time – in a very musical family. Her musical theater debut came in kindergarten, followed by every school musical she could manage. Throughout school, she participated in choir and women’s ensemble, and concert choir in college.
She experienced the benefits of professional voice training in middle school, during which she discovered what her vocal chords could really do! She also learned how to breathe, warm up, and cultivate control and discipline – all keys to singing well!
Tanya worked for many years in a collaborative Montessori/Reggio Emilia preschool and enjoys guiding children in music making! She believes that the first and most valuable instrument is the human voice and learning to use it effectively in childhood opens doors to literacy, public speaking, advocacy, music making, and self-confidence. However, it is never too late to begin or begin again!
Tanya is currently not accepting new students.
