Name: Tayler S.
Music Instrument(s) Taught:
Location: NE Portland
Tayler is a regular Portland native, having grown up in Beaverton and studied at Portland State University, and now teaches in the music department at the University of Portland. He had the great fortune to study in both Portland and Chicago with prolific performers such as Ja’Ttik Clark of the Oregon Symphony, Gene Pokorny of the Chicago Symphony, and Floyd Cooley of DePaul University. Tayler subscribes to the Chicago style of brass playing, which emphasizes the psychological components to performance practices and efficient, easy playing. He believes that understanding the music is the first step to expression and helps students develop strategies for making sound musical choices in their playing.
Tayler is currently accepting new students.
