Nate is an explorer, bassist, and composer from Portland, Oregon. Nate began his musical journey playing classical music in his primary school Orchestra. Even from a very early age, Nate had a fascination with Jazz and World music. This fascination soon blossomed into a career when Nate made the move from his hometown of Fresno, California to sunny Portland, Oregon. While in Portland, Nate attended Lincoln High School and studied with legendary bassist Chuck Israels. While attending High School, Nate also took classes in Music Theory and Ear-Training at Portland State University. Nate has gathered formidable experience playing with local Portland luminaries such Ron Steen, Alan Jones, and Tom Grant. As a member of ‘Totem’, an experimental Jazz collective, he has toured extensively around the Pacific Northwest area. Nate has also been an active member of the Portland Youth Philharmonic since his relocation to Portland in 2013. Since graduating High School Nate has furthered his music studies at both Portland State University and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Today, Nate is back in the Northwest and currently teaching Acoustic and Electric Bass, Guitar, Piano, and Drum Set.
