At the age of 12, Jacob became inspired to start a band of his own after seeing the film “School of Rock” in theaters. His parents bought him his first guitar for Christmas and he played it until he met a friend who convinced him to play the drums at the age of 15. The two pals decided to form a band with another classmate and the trio started recording music the following year. Together they learned songs from their favorite rock & roll bands and wrote original material that they performed at local venues.
Jacob was a self-taught musician until deciding to study music at Portland Community College where he received his Professional Music Certificate. There he learned more about guitar and how to play piano as well as honing his skills on the drums. At P.C.C. an opportunity arose to play drums in a jazz ensemble that consists of both staff and students which allowed him to learn from his teachers in a close environment. Since graduating college, Jacob, has taken drum lessons from the legendary Bernard Purdie (Aretha Franklin, & B.B. King to name a few) and has lent his ability to musical theater plays. Today the young troubadour performs locally with several acts around town and teaches guitar, ukulele, piano and drums in his spare time.
Jacob teaches piano, guitar, ukulele, and drumset.
Jacob is currently accepting new students.
