Jimena began her study and love of the piano at the early age of 3 and has developed a repertoire of Classical, Jazz, Rock and Salsa. Her early playing included annual participation at the Young Keyboard Artist Associations International Piano Competition at the University of Michigan. A graduate of The Professional Music Program at PCC, Jimena is excited to bring her knowledge of music to those who want to learn how to play piano at any age. She is excited to witness students gain and develop their new skills of playing piano from the time they play that first note and she knows the lifelong passion it can become. Jimena’s approach includes listening games, composition, and experimenting with solos in order to build confidence, strengthen technique and find self-expression. Jimena is also Yoga Teacher and Licensed Massage Therapist; she loves hiking, dancing, cooking, hanging with her German Shorthair Pointer ~ Django, and being in her garden! A volunteer-gig she holds dear to her heart is working with the Rock’n’Roll Camp for Girls, where she teaches keys and helps coach bands as they collaborate on an original song for a performance at the end of camp. She hopes to share her enthusiasm and love of music theory, keyboard harmony and how playing an instrument is simply one of the best things you can invest in for your entire life. Jimena teaches piano.
