Music Instrument(s) Taught: Saxophone
Location: NE Portland (33rd and Alberta)
Stephanie has been playing saxophone for over 15 years. A graduate of the Portland Community College Professional Music Program, she has a background playing with rock/pop bands, big bands, concert bands, and jazz combos. Over the years, she has benefited from a variety of instructors who have given her a strong music theory foundation from which to compose original music and build her jazz improvisation skills.
Her philosophy is to make music theory fun by putting it in action. This means playing, writing, experimenting and then learning why it works or doesn’t work. She likes to emphasize musical activities that engage her students, rather than rote memorization – knowing that through active play and practice, memorization will come naturally.
Stephanie loves the saxophone and wants to share this amazing instrument with her students to show them how much fun it is to play!
Stephanie is currently accepting new students.
