My love of piano and music started when I was very young. My grandparents were singers and instrumentalists in a Croatian heritage group and my parents’ love of music definitely had a great influence on me. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and stayed there throughout all of my education and afterwards. I asked my parents for piano lessons at the age of 5 and started with a great teacher at the age of 7. I continued lessons into high school where I started accompanying the choir, orchestra, and musicals. I jumped at the chance to play and accompany any event or recital that needed piano. I took on two piano teachers in high school to prepare myself for my college auditions. I attended Geneva College where I had wonderful instruction from Dr. Sha Wang Luangkesorn for four years.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in piano performance in 2011. Throughout college I had instruction on music theory, history, ear training, literature, piano teaching, and more. I started teaching a few private lessons while still in college. Once I graduated I was asked to take on piano students from a local music school. They started me with eleven students and I taught those students and eventually grew to teaching twenty five students in their homes. I held recitals in a local church and made sure to perform at each one. Even though I scaled down to fewer students once I moved away from the suburbs and into the city my love of teaching remained. I decided to move here to Portland this summer and knew I would want to start teaching as soon as I could. I’ve been an accompanist for churches, weddings, musicals, choirs, and more and I love seeing the impact music has on all ages. It’s universal and reaches everyone. I’m excited to be a part of the Musicality Network and see students grow in their talents and love of music!
Anna is currently not accepting new students.
